Panther Creek Greenway Boardwalk Construction Project – Cary, NC
The Panther Creek Greenway Boardwalk Construction Project is a major component of the Town’s greenway system, with this particular section connecting numerous residences, parks, trails and schools. Two segments will complete gaps in the Panther Creek Greenway, creating a continuous trail between Cameron Pond and Cary Park with grade separation under I-540.
On this project we worked in conjunction with Raleigh Durham Roadbuilders and PermaTrak to install approximately 870 LF of 20,000 GVW boardwalk at two site locations.
The boardwalk was constructed using PermaTrak’s concrete deck panels and beams on Bridge Builders Timber Piling Substructure. PermaTrak has constructed hundreds of feet of concrete boardwalks; however this was the first time their system was constructed utilizing the top down construction method in which Bridge Builders pioneered.
Bridge Builders USA, Inc. spearheaded design solutions for the timber bridge industry by developing “top-down” construction – an accelerated construction method whereby we can build timber bridges in wetlands and other environmentally sensitive areas with minimal impact to the environment, resulting in bridges that fit beautifully in their natural settings and are installed in a manner which helps preserve some of our nation’s prime environmentally sensitive areas and wetlands.
