Union Park Timber Bridge Construction Project – Wesley Chapel, FL

Just 10 minutes north of Tampa, Metro Development Group broke ground on Union Park, a new single-family home community featuring convenient access to major retail centers, entertainment, and highways. With over 10 miles of interconnected trails and natural areas, this neighborhood is focused on connecting friends and nature. Bridge Builders USA, Inc. was chosen for the Union Park timber bridge construction project to construct a timber bridge spanning the wetlands in focus with the developer’s vision. The vehicular bridge and tower project consisted of two timber HS20 Vehicular Bridges, one single lane 18’ x 125 LF timber bridge and adjacent, one 26’ x 125 LF multi-lane timber bridge. The construction included a retaining wall and a timber entry tower overlooking the community.

Bridge Builders USA, Inc. constructed two retaining walls to allow water to flow up to the bridge abutments. “Several hidden springs initially presented some concern, however we overcame the challenge using deep pilings while utilizing the environmentally sound, top-down construction method which we pioneered” stated Bridge Builder’s Project Superintendent, Mark Winter. Concrete pads were poured to transition the vehicular timber bridges from wood to asphalt and the deck railings were extended to give the appearance of a full timber bridge. Metro Development Group believes “Union Park will become the cornerstone for the emergence of the Wesley Chapel area as a premiere destination for residents of Tampa.”
